A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the School of Biomedical Sciences. The appointee will work on research projects related to mechanisms of cardiomyocyte differentiation, heart development, and heart regeneration. The projects will utilize cultured mammalian cells, zebrafish and mouse models, and adeno-associated viruses.
Applicants should have (i) a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences or related fields; (ii) strong/recent basic research laboratory experience in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry; (iii) excellent verbal and written communication skills; and (iv) proficiency in standard laboratory equipment and techniques required. Candidates with recent laboratory experience, basic molecular biology skills, CRISPR/Cas9, and surgical experience with mouse model or zebrafish handling will be desirable.
The appointee will work closely with the Principal Investigator. Duties include (a) design and execution of research projects; (b) presentations at regional and international conferences; and (c) manuscript writing and submission. The appointee will also be mentored to apply for independent grants.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
