The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS), working with more than 200 ophthalmologists and visual scientists in Hong Kong and mainland China, is committed to advancing patient service, research, and training and education to the highest quality in all major areas of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. We are also dedicated to worthwhile community programs and public education projects. DOVS, always “in search of excellence”, is looking for local and overseas candidates to take up positions in our clinical and research (academic, community and translational) programmes involving clinical ophthalmology, ophthalmic investigations, public education, out-reach, specific disease entities such as children eye diseases, ocular surface diseases, refractive errors, ocular cancers, retina diseases, genetic eye diseases, autoimmune eye diseases, dry eye disease, thyroid eye diseases, and glaucoma.
Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in Biological Sciences, preferably in ophthalmology or cancer research; (ii) proficiency in English; (iii) solid experience in cell biology, cell culture and other molecular biology techniques; (iv) proven track records and ability to work independently and within a team; (v) keen interest in research work in the field of ophthalmology and visual sciences; and (vi) self-motivation, sincerity, a strong sense of responsibility, and teamwork spirit. Those with relevant experience in next generation sequencing will be an advantage. Both local and overseas applications are welcome.
Duties include (a) co-ordinating research projects and developing research methods; (b) data analysis and manuscript and grant preparation; (c) providing training to junior staff and students; and (d) performing other departmental tasks as assigned.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one to two years commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
