The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS), working with more than 200 ophthalmologists and visual scientists in Hong Kong and mainland China, is committed to advancing patient services, research, and training and education to the highest quality in all major areas of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. We are also dedicated to worthwhile community programmes and public education projects. DOVS, always “in search of excellence”, is looking for candidates to take up positions in our clinical and research (academic, community and translational) programmes involving clinical ophthalmology, ophthalmic investigations, public education, out-reach, specific disease entities such as children eye diseases, ocular surface diseases, refractive errors, ocular cancers, retina diseases, genetic eye diseases, autoimmune eye diseases, dry eye disease, thyroid eye diseases, and glaucoma. Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree (for Research Assistant(s)) OR an Associate degree (for Junior Research Assistant(s)) or above in Biological Sciences or other related disciplines; (ii) keen interest in research work in the field of ophthalmology and visual sciences; (iii) self-motivation, sincerity, a strong sense of responsibility, and teamwork spirit; and (iv) proficiency in English and Cantonese. Relevant experience in molecular work and cell culture will be an advantage.
Duties include (a) participating in and providing support for research projects, community services and eye screening projects; (b) performing cell culture, molecular work and data entry and analysis; and (c) performing other departmental duties as assigned. In-house training will be provided where appropriate.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
