The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS), working with more than 200 ophthalmologists and visual scientists in Hong Kong and Mainland China, is committed to advancing patient services, research, and training and education to the highest quality in all major areas of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. We are looking for candidates to take up positions in our clinical and research programmes on disease entities, including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and other retina diseases. Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Health Science, Biological or Biomedical Science; (ii) proficiency in English and Cantonese; (iii) keen interest in research work in the field of ophthalmology and visual sciences; (iv) an effective, intelligent, energetic, resourceful and forward-looking work attitude; and (v) personal integrity, sincerity and teamwork spirit. Relevant experience in clinical/laboratory/statistical studies is preferred.
Duties include (a) participating in and providing logistical support for research projects; (b) performing laboratory works on microbiome and eye swabs and blood samples, and data entry and analysis; (c) carrying out ophthalmic investigations in research and eye screening projects; (d) providing support in data processing and analysis; and (e) performing other departmental duties as assigned. In-house training will be provided where appropriate.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
