The Department of Psychiatry is seeking Junior Research Assistant(s) or Research Assistant(s) to join the Microbiome-Gut-Brain projects. These projects have been established through collaborations with the Hub of Advanced Technology for Child Health, the Microbiota I-Center, and the International Brain Lab. We aim to leverage multidisciplinary insights and tools to study circuit-based neuropathological signatures observed in humanised animal models. This project seeks to unravel the intricate dynamics of the gut-brain axis, encompassing genetic and cellular activities, circuits, system functions, behaviour, and computational modelling.
Applicants should have/be (i) a BSc degree or above, preferably in Computational Neuroscience, or any quantitative discipline such as Statistics or Mathematics; (ii) a proficient English speaker with strong communication skills; (iii) demonstrated programming skills and experience, with the ability to analyse and model behavioural EEG data; (iv) responsible, organised, efficient, and self-motivated; and (v) enthusiasm for research and collaboration. Candidates with research experience and knowledge in computational modelling, machine learning, and Python, especially in relation to EEG data, will be advantageous.
Duties include (a) collecting, analysing, and modelling neural, behavioural, and other biological data; (b) developing and maintaining analytical methodologies and technical skills; (c) disseminating research findings; (d) collaborating with colleagues within and outside the research projects; and (e) performing other tasks as assigned. On-the-job training will be provided.
The appointee(s) is expected to actively engage with scientific and clinical communities to enhance their methodological skills and theoretical understanding during their tenure.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
