The Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering is currently looking for a Research Assistant in the field of medical robotics. Applicants should have/be (i) a Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Automation, or related disciplines; (ii) solid knowledge of mechanical design, actuator, controller, and sensors, etc.; (iii) familiar with hardware analysis in medical products; (iv) strong problem-solving skills and project execution capability; and (v) self-motivation to work independently and co-operatively with other team members. Work experience in flexible robotics or soft robotics will be advantageous.
The appointee will be responsible for (a) providing technical support to design and modeling of medical robots; (b) assisting in prototype fabrication, integration, and evaluation of surgical robots; (c) assisting in testing and error analysis of robotic system; (d) co-operating with suppliers; and (e) assisting in purchasing and work preparation.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
