Accountant I / II (carrying the job title of ‘Senior Manager/Manager of Accounting’)
The School of Continuing and Professional Studies (CUSCS), founded in 1965, is a self-financing extension unit of the University with its mission to provide quality lifelong education to community members of all ages. The School offers a wide variety of full-time and part-time post-secondary, professional and continuing education programmes, general courses and corporate training courses in diversified disciplines. CUSCS now invites applications for the post of Accountant I/II (carrying the job title of ‘Senior Manager/Manager of Accounting’) to oversee the operation and lead the accounting team of the School.
The appointee will be responsible for (a) overseeing the entire accounting and purchasing functions of the School in accordance with the related policies and regulations of the School and University; (b) performing financial planning, budgeting, resources management, cost control, year-end account closing and related accounting matters; (c) preparing financial statements, analyses and costing reports on various cost centres; (d) developing financial management initiatives, policies and procedures; (e) developing and enhancing the accounting system of the School; and (f) performing other duties as assigned.
Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree and a professional qualification in Accounting, e.g. HKICPA, ACCA, CA or equivalent; (ii) at least 8 years of post-qualification relevant work experience, preferably at tertiary institutions; (iii) proficiency in spoken and written English and Chinese (including Putonghua); (iv) proficiency in MS Office applications; (v) excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills; and (vi) the competence to work independently. Knowledge of SAP and PeopleSoft applications will be advantageous. Applicants with less experience but at least 4 years of relevant work experience may be considered for appointment as Accountant II. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to 2 years (with contract-end gratuity for a 2-year contract), renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
