Applications are invited for full-time Postdoctoral Fellow position(s) to work with Prof. Yan Liu in the Department of Geography and Resource Management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Applicants should have (i) a Ph.D. in Human Geography, Urban Studies/Planning, GIS or other related disciplines; (ii) the ability to conduct independent and ethical research, with outstanding track record of publications; (iii) proficiency in spatial (big) data analysis and modelling, with excellent skills using ArcGIS, R, Python, and other statistical software; (iv) an excellent command of written and spoken English; and (v) the ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment. Experience of cellular automata (CA) modelling, ABM, Geosimulation and/or GeoAI is preferred.
The appointee(s) will be responsible for (a) conducting high-quality research in one of the following areas: urban land use change modelling, climate change adaptation, smart cities and urban sustainability, or urban informatics in the context of China, Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area; (b) preparing research proposals, drafting research articles and reports, and presentations; and (c) performing other duties as assigned.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year commencing July 2025, renewable subject to good performance.
