The Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care is based at the Prince of Wales Hospital (PWH), a 1,637 bed tertiary referral teaching hospital managed by the Hospital Authority (HA) and affiliated with The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). The hospital provides a wide range of acute specialist services, including both a cardiac and trauma centre. Each year we deliver anaesthetic services for 14,000 operations in the main operating theatre, with one third being emergency cases. An additional 2000 anaesthetics are administered in the labour ward and other areas outside the operating theatre suite. The Intensive Care Unit provides adult medical and surgical critical care for approximately 1700 patients per year.
Applicants should have (i) a medical qualification (approved for registration with The Medical Council of Hong Kong); (ii) experience/strong interest in anaesthesia and/or intensive care; and (iii) preferably some teaching experience. A good command of spoken and written English is required (proficiency in Cantonese will be an advantage but not essential).
Duties include (a) providing high quality clinical services in anaesthesia and intensive care; (b) teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses; and (c) other duties as assigned by the Department Chairman.
Appointment will be made on contract basis for one year, renewable subject to mutual agreement and satisfactory performance.
