The CUHK Business School is a pioneer in business education in Hong Kong. Since its establishment in Hong Kong in 1963, the CUHK Business School has gained world recognition of nurturing business leaders with immense contributions in Asia Pacific region. The Business School comprises two schools – Accountancy and Hotel & Tourism Management; and four departments – Finance, Decision Sciences & Managerial Economics, Management, and Marketing.
The Business School has been offering a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (DBA, MBA, MSc, MAcc, EMBA, MPhil, PhD) with over 4,600 students, as well as executive education. It has one of the most extensive alumni networks in the region, with over 40,000 alumni around the world.
About the School of Hotel & Tourism Management
The School of Hotel & Tourism Management (SHTM) is an integral part of the CUHK Business School. It was established in 1998 in view of the growing significance of the hospitality industry in Hong Kong and Asia. The SHTM’s mission is to develop leaders for the hospitality and real estate industries through a broad-based business education. It now comprises a dynamic group of academic and professional teaching staff members supported by a team of teaching, research and administrative support staff as well as a food and beverage team.
The SHTM offers programmes at different levels to nurture future leaders for the hospitality and real estate industries. The following is a list of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes:
- BBA in Hospitality and Real Estate
- MSc in Real Estate
- MPhil-PhD in Business Administration
The CUHK Business School now seeks to appoint a Director of School of Hotel & Tourism Management. Reporting to the Dean of Business Administration, the Director will serve as a key member of the Business School’s leadership team and will have overall responsibility for academic leadership and administration in the SHTM. The ideal candidate should be a visionary and collaborative leader who excels at enhancing the quality and reputation of SHTM’s academic programmes and research, and strengthening connection with business communities, and should have:
- a strong track record of scholarly eminence in the area of hospitality and/or real estate and demonstrate commitment to research and teaching excellence;
- a doctoral degree in hospitality, real estate or other related business disciplines;
- strong record of teaching and research experiences in a research university or other tertiary institutions;
- administrative experiences in previous tertiary institutions and/or companies with strong communication and networking skills;
- an international outlook as well as regional knowledge; and
- strong established networks in hospitality and real estate industries.
Previous studying/working experiences outside Hong Kong are highly valued.
Appointment of Directorship will be made on fixed terms basis for three years and subject to renewal, as appropriate. An academic appointment will also be made either on substantive rank (with tenure) or fixed terms concurrently.
