The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is seeking outstanding candidates for Research Assistant Professorship (RAP) in the areas of LLM and XR, for the research direction of intelligent and interactive medical education with cutting-edge LLM and XR techniques. Applicants in the following areas are particularly welcome:
● Multimodal Large Language Models
● Medical Image Computing
● Surgical Data Science
● Human-computer Interaction
● Extended Reality and Computer Graphics
Applicants should have (i) a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Electronic engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or other disciplines that are related to artificial intelligence or healthcare technologies; (ii) ample experiences in above research area(s) as evidenced by publications in high-impact journals and top-tier conferences; (iii) substantial postdoctoral experience in relevant area(s); (iv) strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching; (v) strong sense of responsibility and team spirit; (vi) excellent oral and written communication skills.
The appointee will (a) apply for, in capacity as Principal Investigator/Project Coordinator, RGC grants (or other external grants of a similar size and status) every year; (b) participate and/or develop in independent and/ or collaborative research projects; (c) coordinate research projects and publish peer-reviewed papers; (d) be involved in teaching, student supervision and related administrative duties.
As the 1st computer science department in Hong Kong, CSE department currently hosts over 30 faculty members, including 1st Turing Award winner in Hong Kong, 7 ACM Fellows, 15 IEEE Fellows, and over 1035 students. Further information about the department is available at https://www.cse.cuhk.edu.hk/.
Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years.
