The Institute of Space and Earth Information Science (ISEIS) is inviting applications for Research Assistant Professorship. Young, energetic and qualified researchers and scholars are invited to join our existing teams with the following research expertise:
- Mobile sensing technology
- Spatial analysis and modeling
- Artificial intelligence, machine learning and data mining
- Environment and health
- Smart and sustainable cities
ISEIS is a research hub for remote sensing and geoinformation science research. ISEIS's main research areas include Cloud-prone and Rainy-areas Remote Sensing (CARRS), Virtual Geographic Environments (VGE), emergency response and natural disaster monitoring and management, urban and metropolitan GIS, analysis and modeling of the urban settlement environment, public health and geographic information systems, Intelligent Transport System (ITS) and spatially integrated humanities and social science.
The Institute has worked with mathematicians, statisticians, meteorologists, physicists, biologists, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, chemical engineers, geographers, computer scientists, information engineers, big data and data analysts, and medical and public health experts in Hong Kong and around the world. We also work with policy makers, government officials, professionals and industry stakeholders in knowledge transfer and consultancy projects.
Applicants should have:
- a relevant PhD degree in Geography, Geo-Information Science, Remote Sensing, Public Health, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Ecology, Engineering or other relevant disciplines with research expertise on environment and health, healthy and smart cities, sustainable development, climate mitigation and adaptation, carbon neutrality;
- a good scholarly record demonstrating (potential for) research and teaching excellence; and
- good proposal and report writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to three years commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to performance and mutual agreement. Applicants please upload a full CV, a publication list and a research statement.
