Department/Unit: Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology

The Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology is seeking highly motivated and talented individuals for the position of Assistant Professor (Non-Clinical) to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate(s) will contribute to advancing research in orthopaedic technologies, with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) development, surgical robotics, augmented reality (AR) navigation, and translational research.
Applicants should :
a) possess a PhD degree in orthopaedics, biomedical engineering, computer science, biological sciences, or related disciplines, preferably with experience in the research and development (R&D) of orthopaedic AI applications, surgical robotics, AR navigation systems, or translational technologies.
b) have a strong research record with publications in leading peer-reviewed scientific journals.
c) have a proven track record of securing competitive research funding.
d) demonstrate potential to obtain external grants within the next 2–3 years.
e) have experience in coordinating collaborative projects with industrial partners is highly desirable.
Key responsibilities:
a) Leading multidisciplinary research initiatives in the fields of orthopaedic AI, surgical robotics, AR navigation, and translational research.
b) Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
c) Undertaking administrative duties within the Department, Faculty, and University as assigned.
Appointment Terms:
The appointment will initially be made on a fixed-term contract of up to three years, commencing in August 2025, renewable subject to mutual agreement and satisfactory performance, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later.
